We are delighted to share the exciting news of a ground-breaking event that took place at WASCZ on Sunday, 26th February. Students from Grades 7 to 9 participated in the inaugural Cambridge English A2 Key for Schools exam, highlighting their English language proficiency, and aiming to earn the prestigious Cambridge seal of distinction. The exam, administered by the devoted staff at WASCZ, received enthusiastic support from English teachers who worked diligently to prepare their students for success.

The purpose of conducting the Cambridge English A2 Key for Schools exam was twofold: to allow students to demonstrate their English language skills and to recognize their hard work. This certification serves as a testament to their abilities and may open doors to future academic opportunities. 

我们为学生们取得的出色成绩感到自豪。值得注意的是，吴同学(八年级 Fonteyn学院)和司同学 (八年级 Austen学院) 在这次考试中双双脱颖而出，成为前两名得分最高的学生，这反映了她们语言方面的才能和对英语学习所投入的努力。

We are proud to highlight the exceptional results achieved by our students in the exam. Notably, Katalina Wu from Grade 8 and Kitty Si from Grade 8 emerged as the top two scorers, reflecting their dedication and aptitude for English language learning. 

吴同学对此充满惊喜和喜悦，在颁奖典礼后分享了她的感受：“这是我第一次参加剑桥英语考试。与以往的考试相比，这是非常独特的一次经历。起初，当我得知自己被选为第一批参加考试的学生时，我有些紧张，不确定自己是否有能力完成好它。但当我的名字作为最高分获得者，在颁奖典礼时被高声宣读的时候，我感受到了前所未有到骄傲和喜悦。我希望和大家一起努力，继续学习之旅，努力攀登顶峰。”

K. Wu, filled with surprise and joy, shared her experience after the awarding ceremony: "Taking the exam for the first time was an exciting experience for me. Unlike previous school entry exams, this was a unique opportunity. Initially, I was a bit nervous when I received the notice of my selection. However, the exam turned out to be a joyful experience, and hearing my name announced as the top scorer filled me with pride and delight. I will continue my learning journey, aiming for the top, and I encourage you to do the same." 

司同学也对自己的成就感到自豪，并对学校提供的机会表示感激：“我非常荣幸能够被选中参加这次考试。我要感谢我的英语老师们对我的悉心指导。这次考试让我意识到语法的重要性。光会说是不够的，写作还需要准确性。我将努力提高我的语法技巧，争取在将来取得更好的成绩。”

Similarly, K. Si expressed her pride in her achievement and expressed gratitude to the school for the opportunity: "I am truly honoured to have been selected to participate in this exam. I would like to thank my English teachers for their guidance and education. This test highlighted the importance of grammar to me. Speaking well is not enough; writing requires precision. I will strive to improve my grammar skills to achieve better results in the future."

J. Zhang, thrilled with his success, believes that the certificate will greatly benefit him in his future college entrance examinations. 

放眼未来，常州威雅雄心勃勃，制定了一系列计划，旨在继续培养学生的语言能力并为他们提供进一步认证的机会。6月19日，学校将组织一批小学生参加剑桥少儿英语YLE Flyers考试。另外，6月26日，我们将组织首场剑桥学生B1初级考试。届时会有一批中学部学生参加，展示他们的英语水平。这些考试对于即将到来的2023-2024学年是至关重要的准备。对于接下来的一年，我们满怀热情，因为我们将能够向更多的学生提供剑桥英语考试的机会，让他们有机会获得进一步的语言能力认证，强化语言学习之旅。  

In anticipation of the future, WASCZ has set forth ambitious plans to enhance students' language skills and provide regular opportunities for certification. Another important date awaits us next month, on June 19th, when a group of our Lower School students will partake in the inaugural YLE Flyers exam. Furthermore, on June 26th, we have scheduled a pivotal trial session of the Cambridge B1 for Schools exam. This session will allow a select group of Upper School students to demonstrate their English proficiency. These trial sessions serve as crucial preparation for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year. The prospect of the next academic year fills us with great enthusiasm, as we will be able to extend the opportunity of Cambridge English exams to a much larger number of students, granting them the chance to earn certifications that will further bolster their language learning journey.

Now that we have marked this significant milestone in our students' language development, we will keep moving forward, maintaining positive engagement with our pupils, emphasising the utmost importance of prioritising their English language acquisition. We passionately believe that mastering English not only unlocks success across all subjects but also becomes their primary tool to explore a broader world when they eventually embark on their university journey. As we look ahead, we are excited about our upcoming plans for additional exams and thriving collaborations with Cambridge.
