Entrepreneurs & Economists Club

School News January 28, 2019

A group of 23 pupils from WAIS’s Entrepreneurs & Economists Club went on a field trip to Mingdu Hoki International (MDHGI) Hotel Changzhou on 28th January 2019.

The hotel’s room division manager, Mr. Pei Feng hosted us and gave a guided tour of the hotel. This tour opened the eyes of our pupils to actual hotel operations and real-time hospitality systems. Our pupils toured the Hotel’s front office, F&B division and MICE department.

After the tour, our pupils took the opportunity to ask Mr. Pei Feng several questions. Mr. Pei answered all questions with warmth and professionalism. At the end of the highly informative Q&A session, we presented MDHGI Hotel, a small token of our appreciation- A Wycombe Abbey Bear!

This visit to MDHGI Hotel Changzhou offered our pupils interesting perspectives of operating a hotel, the challenges and solutions. Members of Entrepreneurs & Economists Club greatly benefited from this opportunity. Our pupils had this to say:

“We appreciate MDHGI Hotel Changzhou for making this visit such an enriching and fulfilling one for all of us. Special thanks to Mr. Pei who gave us such interesting insights about hotel operations” I. Zhou (Yr 12, Cavell) Club Chairperson.

“There were many highlights, but, for me, at the top of the list was the superb first-person interpretations by Mr. Pei that were so brilliantly done.” W. Lin (Yr 13, Blake) Head of Best Business Ideas Competition Committee.

“The field trip was absolutely an eye-opener for me. Learning in a classroom is one thing, learning outside the classroom walls gave us precious insights that complemented my learning. In fact, I’m already looking forward to our next field trip!” L. Zhang (Yr 13 Austen) Club member.

The Entrepreneurs & Economists Club is based at Wycombe Abbey International School Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, PRC. We aim to provide a conduit by which pupils can access entrepreneurial resources, network with community entrepreneurs and share ideas. The club is dedicated to furthering understanding about entrepreneurship, economics, new and small businesses.
